Welcome
The town of Coon, Wisconsin, originally known as Helgedalen, was settled primarily by Norwegian immigrants in the 1850s. It was later renamed due to the prevalence of raccoons in the area. The name "Coon Valley" is associated with the Coon Creek watershed, where the first U.S. Soil Conservation Service project was launched in 1933 to combat erosion.
